More About Pete Lang
"The credit union movement is about people looking after and supporting one another for their mutual benefit. Banks are about profit for their stockholders. In a credit union, the members are the owners. The profits are returned to the members. One of the movement's greatest challenges is being regulated out of existence by the American Bankers Association's influence on our legislators at both the federal and state levels. Credit unions are safer than banks and have a healthier insurance fund. Nevertheless, we are saddled with onerous regulations, instigated by bankers, that threaten to drive us out of existence, because they want it all."
