Cell Phone ID Theft

A growing form of ID theft involves the use of cell phones with cameras. This is one of the fastest growing forms of identification theft today. ID thieves stand behind a consumer in line in the grocery store, retail stores, etc. and take a picture of the consumer's credit card, which gives them the consumer's name, credit card number, and expiration date. Camera cell phones can also capture input of your Personal Identification Number (PIN) key strokes at Point of Sale and ATMs.

What You Can Do

Pay careful attention to your surroundings when you are standing in line at registers or at the ATM.
